Heather Smith is our Strengthening Families Coordinator. Heather's role includes the co-ordination of the Strengthening Families case management process, supporting the lead agencies involved with families and involvement in projects in the local community including the interagency Tamariki Holiday Programme, the MSD Local Services Mapping Priorities, the Growing Great Families initiative and the Otaki Youth Action Forum.
Heather also runs a monthly Frontline Workers Forum. This forum enables government and NGO agencies inovlved with children and families to network together and to listen to presentations from different agencies and speakers.
With an extensive backround in social work and strong knowledge of services available in the community, Heather can also be a useful resource to link families in with the appropriate services they may need.
The Strengthening Families co-ordinator reports regularly to a local management group which is made up of key managers from health, education, justice and social sectors.
