We are very lucky to have three Community Patrol groups in Kapiti; the Kapiti Community Patrol, Waikanae Community Patrol and the Otaki Volunteer Community Patrol. They work alongside the Police patrolling the community and adding additional volunteer eyes and ears.
These proactive community based initiative provide regular patrols of the Waikanae and Paraparaumu Districts, alerting Police of any suspicious incidences or concerns.
Kapiti Police acknowledge that the work of this group has certainly had a significant effect on the crime rate of the area and the commitment and professionalism of these groups of volunteers are widely recognised.
